Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is making it easy for families to prepare for the 2025-26 school year by releasing bus stop information and opening its 485-RIDE hotline simultaneously on Monday, July 28. This coordinated effort helps ensure parents and guardians can get the transportation information they need before the first day of school on Thursday, August 7.
Finding Bus Information
Starting July 28, families can access their child's bus information on Bus Teller, found on the JCPSFirstDay.com website under the JCPS Transportation Portal. Bus Teller allows parents and guardians to see their child's bus number, bus stop location, and estimated pick-up and drop-off times. The JCPS transportation routing team has been working hard to match each bus rider with the closest, safe bus stop. Bus stop information will be uploaded and updated daily to Bus Teller so parents/guardians should check the site frequently before the first day of school and continue checking throughout the first couple weeks as routes may change.
Getting Questions Answered
The 485-RIDE hotline is also open. JCPS staff will answer hotline calls weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., though those hours could be adjusted depending on call volume. Families who have questions about their child’s bus stop or other transportation-related questions can call 485-RIDE (7433) which will remain open through the first several days of school.
"Providing early, clear information is key to getting our students to and from school safely and efficiently," said Chief Operations Officer Dr. Rob Fulk. "By releasing bus stop information and opening our hotline simultaneously, we're empowering families to prepare for August 7 so it can be a seamless first day for everyone."
Important Transportation Verification Information
To be guaranteed a bus stop for the first day of school, families must have completed the Transportation Verification Form on the Transportation Portal by June 13. Transportation services are currently in a "freeze period" until August 18. During this “freeze period”, no new bus stop locations will be added as bus drivers learn their routes. The goal is to ensure JCPS’ bus routing plan works effectively and efficiently the first few days of school before adding more stops.
If families complete the Transportation Verification Form now, JCPS cannot guarantee that a bus stop will be assigned to the student by August 7. New stops will only be processed after August 18. To prevent further delays, eligible families who haven't yet completed this form should do so as soon as possible via the Transportation Portal. All JCPS families must complete this form to indicate their child's transportation plan (car rider, eligible bus rider, walker, or transportation to/from a Child Enrichment Program (CEP)).
