A familiar face will be working in the principal’s office at Fern Creek Elementary School next school year. Adrianne Tytus has been named the new principal, replacing Tonya Arnold who is retiring. Tytus has been an assistant principal at Fern Creek for the past five years.
“I am honored to continue the good work we are doing at Fern Creek Elementary,” Tytus said. “Since 2020, we have navigated many changes together, and I welcome this leadership transition with our school community.”
Tytus has spent 21 years in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) as a teacher, magnet program coordinator, academic instructional coach, and assistant principal. She began her career as a teacher at Jacob Elementary before moving on to Stonestreet and Young Elementary schools. In 2015, Tytus began organizing and providing professional development for the International Baccalaureate program at Young. Stops at Laukhuf and Johnsontown Road elementary schools as an academic instructional coach led to the job as assistant principal at Fern Creek Elementary.
“At Fern Creek Elementary, Ms. Tytus has worked closely with staff to cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment for all students,” said Paige Hartstern, assistant superintendent for elementary Zone 2. “She brings a strong commitment to collaboration and student success and will continue to build on the excellence already established at Fern Creek Elementary.”
Tytus received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University before completing a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University and an Education Specialist degree from Bellarmine University.
“My vision for our school is to move forward the work of building a strong culture for learning in which students, staff, and families feel the worth of their contribution to the success of every child,” Tytus said.
