SCHOOL APPLICATION ASSISTANCE | The JCPS School Application Period remains open through Dec. 19. If you need help submitting your application for the 2026-27 school year, the Office of School Choice will be on-site at the Newburg Library this Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. You can also receive assistance from the Office of School Choice, M-F, over the phone at (502) 485-6250 or at the LAM building.

Doss students explored Berea College over Homecoming Weekend! Guided by a proud alumna, they experienced the school's strong sense of community, learned about its rich history, and asked plenty of great questions about college life.

Some of our TEC Academy students had the opportunity to tour the Reynolds Wrap plant last week, seeing the machines, process, and people behind real manufacturing. Thank you, Mr. Chamberlain, for providing these students with such great hands-on learning experiences!

Celebrating Those Who Make a Difference

Our Multilingual Learners have started a new tradition this year; each month they vote for the staff member who truly uplifts them, supports them, and makes Doss feel like a place where they belong. For the month of October, our ML students selected Miss Beitia as the Multilingual Learner Advocate of the Month!

What makes this recognition even more meaningful is that 25 other staff members were also nominated. That speaks volumes about the love, dedication, and positive impact so many of our educators and staff bring to our students every single day.

Congratulations, Miss Beitia! And thank you to every staff member who continues to pour encouragement, patience, and belief into our students’ journeys. You are making a difference.

Our first group of students kicked off their job shadowing experiences at UofL Hospital, Jewish Hospital, and Frazier Rehab this week! They had an amazing time bringing their classroom and lab learning to real-world patient care.

Doss High School was honored to be represented at the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Freedom Fund Banquet. Assistant Principals Ms. Johana Gomez and Mr. Shawn Claxton attended as invited guests of Chief Marshall and Faith Stroud  with the JCPS Diversity, Equity, and Poverty Division. The event featured Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood as a keynote speaker, underscoring JCPS’s continued commitment to equity, access, and opportunity for all students.
