🏆🌎 Hawthorne Hawks Shine at the KWLA Student Expo! 🌎🏆

This past Tuesday, our amazing Hawthorne students were recognized by the Jefferson County Board of Education for their outstanding achievements at the Kentucky World Language Association (KWLA) Student Expo!

The KWLA Student Expo celebrates students’ abilities to communicate in multiple languages, explore world cultures, collaborate with others, and showcase their creativity through writing, speaking, visual arts, performances, and more.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing Hawthorne so well and demonstrating the power of bilingualism, biliteracy, and global citizenship. Their hard work, talent, and dedication continue to inspire us all!

A special congratulations to all of our participants, award winners, and Distinguished Communicators. We are proud to be the home of Kentucky’s future multilingual leaders! 💙🦅💛

🚨 ACTION REQUIRED | TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY! 🚨We need to know how your child will get to and from school for the 2026-27 school year.

Today, June 8, 2026, is the final day to request bus transportation for the first day of school. Every JCPS family must complete the Transportation Verification (TV) form to let us know your plans.

Eligible bus riders who fill out the form by the end of the day today will be notified of their bus stop location in July via the JCPS Bus Teller. Don't delay—get your request in now!

🚐 DESIGN-A-BUS CONTEST WINNERS | Huge congratulations to the talented student artists who won the 2026 Design-a-Bus Contest! This year, elementary, middle, and high school students were asked to illustrate a time they embraced change or tried something new.

The incredible winning submissions are now hitting the streets on a custom Transit Authority of River City (TARC) bus wrap! 🚍✨

As we prepare for a new chapter, we want to recognize our incredible Early Childhood staff as they transition to the new Early Childhood Center this August. While we’re a little late in sharing, we did not want the month to pass without honoring the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of AAPI communities in our school and beyond. The AAPI community includes people with roots across East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, and more — representing incredible diversity in languages, traditions, foods, arts, and stories. At Hawthorne, we are grateful for the many cultures and experiences that help make our community vibrant, welcoming, and strong. 💙🦅 --- 🌺✨ Mes de la Herencia Asiático Americana y de las Islas del Pacífico ✨🌺 Mientras continúa el mes de mayo, queremos tomar un momento para reconocer y celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Asiático Americana y de las Islas del Pacífico (AAPI). 🏆⚽ CHAMPIONS AGAIN! ⚽🏆 A huge congratulations to our Hawthorne Hawks Navy Soccer Team for bringing home another championship title this weekend! We are so proud of the teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and heart our players showed all season long. 💙🦅 A very special THANK YOU to our incredible volunteer parent coaches, Coach Matt and Coach Andrea, for all of the time, energy, encouragement, and dedication you poured into our students this season. Your impact goes far beyond the soccer field! We also want to give a big shout out to our Yellow Team for a fantastic season as well! Thank you to Coach Angelica for leading and supporting our players throughout the season. We are proud of ALL of our Hawks athletes!
