Due to forecasted frigid temperatures in the early morning hours on Monday, December 15, 2025, we have made the decision to use a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day for students and staff. Temperatures are expected to warm throughout the day so all after school athletic and extracurricular activities will go on as scheduled.

ONE WEEK | Reminder! The Application Period for the 2026–27 school year closes in one week. Families with incoming kindergarten, 6th, or 9th-grade students who live in the Choice Zone will need to select between their close-to-home or their far-away school options before next Friday’s deadline.

❄️IMPORTANT | Due to forecasted winter weather, all JCPS events scheduled for 7 p.m. or later this evening (Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025) are canceled. A decision on Friday’s schedule will be announced tonight or early tomorrow morning.

ZT Families,
Since the board voted to postpone the vote on the District’s proposal to close consolidate, and relocate some JCPS schools for the 2026–27 school year, we are not going to have our parent meeting after the Winter Concert this Thursday. We are still having our Winter Concert so please come and enjoy the show!
Thank you,
Mrs. Cravens

December 5, 2025
Dear Zachary Taylor families and staff,
Today, the Jefferson County Board of Education (JCBE), led by Chairman Dr. Corrie Shull and Vice Chair James Craig, announced their intent to formally move to pause consideration of Superintendent Dr. Yearwood's proposal to close, consolidate, and relocate schools. This motion will be introduced at the December 9 Board meeting.
This decision comes after extensive feedback was gathered during the three recent community input sessions. The Board stated they "have heard the voices of our community" and are committed to due diligence and transparency.
As Chairman Shull noted, "We recognize that our schools are the heart of our communities, and any change must be approached with the utmost care, transparency, and a focus on the best interests of our students."
The Board is requesting that Dr. Yearwood and his team use this additional time to provide a more thorough and detailed justification for the recommendations, including specific academic, fiscal, and logistical benefits for each proposed change.
While this pause is a direct result of our community's strong engagement and provides a temporary reprieve, I urge everyone to temper your expectations.
It is crucial to understand that the Board leadership emphasized that this motion to pause is not a vote against the need for necessary changes. It is a step to ensure the process is as thorough as possible. This means the underlying proposal, or a modified version of it, may still be approved at a later date.
The Board encourages parents, guardians, educators, and residents to continue bringing their feedback and insights during this pause.
I will continue to monitor the Board's discussions closely and share any new information. Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and staff.
Sincerely,
Analese Cravens
