🎉 GAMECHANGER AWARD | Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood was honored to accept the Metro United Way Gamechanger Award on behalf of JCPS this week at the organization's seventh annual Community Impact Awards, also known as the "Immies."

Presented by Old National Bank, the Immies event celebrates the great work done to help kids thrive, households grow stronger, and ensure our community is more equitable!

If your student is in the Auto Services or METAL Academy please arrive before 1:15 pm on their designated day. If your student is in Freshman or BLA Academy please arrive before 9:15 am on their designated day. Every guest will have to go through our weapon's detection system before entering the building. All guests will park in the side parking lot and enter through the loading dock (bottom floor/basement).

Southern is proud to annouce that 3 students in our Business Leadership Academy qualified for state finals in the KY Personal Finance Challenge. This accomplishment demonstrates their ability to apply financial knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

It's National Library Week! We are celebrating in many ways - coloring contests, bingo, prize drawings, and more! Stop by the library to participate in all of the fun!

April is National Poetry Month. The library is hosting our 3rd Annual Poetry Contest. Poem submissions will be accepted between April 1st and April 27th. See the flyer for entry rules and the scoring rubric.

💙 CORE OF COMPASSION AWARD | JCPS was honored to receive the Dare to Care Food Bank Core of Compassion Award last week. This recognition reflects the power of partnership and a shared commitment to supporting students and families across our community.

Stock up on good books before Spring Break! The SHS Book Club is having a book sale. Paperbacks are $2, hardcovers are $3. The sale will be in the library from March 23rd until April 2nd!

The Business Leadership Academy took a field trip today to the Payton Glass Center and Flame Run. They watched live demos of glass blowing/torch work and learned about the business side from both business owners.

THIS WEEKEND | The East Area Elementary Family Resource Center Coordinators are hosting a Community Baby Shower and Early Childhood Parent Resource Fair this Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Klondike Elementary.

Any expectant parents or parents of children ages 0-5 years are invited to attend this FREE event. The event will feature several parent sessions for new and expectant moms that will provide help with breastfeeding, birthing plans, advocating for yourself and your child, and taking care of your mental health during and after pregnancy.

☀️ SUMMER CAMP KICKOFF EVENT THIS WEEKEND | Looking for summer camps and enrichment opportunities for your child? Join us for the 21st Annual JCPS Family Resource & Youth Services Centers Summer Camp Kickoff this Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the JCPS Center for Professional Learning (3903 Atkinson Square Dr.).

This FREE event connects JCPS families with a wide variety of summer camps and programs from across Jefferson County. Families can meet providers, ask questions, and enter drawings for summer camp scholarships.

All JCPS families are welcome!
