Dear Layne Elementary School Families,

The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. I’m writing to let you know about a situation that impacted students on one of our school buses today.

This afternoon, an upset adult blocked in Bus #1730 at St. Anthony Church Road and Springfield Drive. Immediately, JCPS PD and LMPD were called to help resolve the situation. After approximately 30 minutes, the adult involved stopped blocking the bus and students resumed their bus ride home.

We know situations like this can impact all students differently. Our mental health team is available to talk with any student who would like to discuss what happened. Please contact the school office if you feel your child would like support.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Cassandra Hayes

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. To: Mrs. Lopez. Fern Creek High School Dear Mrs. Lopez, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for everything you've done for me. When I look back on my high school experience, I don’t think about or talk about my grade in your class, but rather, I remember and talk about you. There were days when I needed more than just a teacher, and somehow, you always knew. You are someone who listens without judging, someone who can make anyone feel safe and welcome. Now, as I’m about to graduate high school, I can wholeheartedly say you were one of the most important people in my high school journey. You changed me in ways I didn’t even realize at the time. You made me realize that I really can do anything I put my mind to. I don't think I've said it enough and I will continue to say it, thank you Mrs. Lopez. From Itzel R. 12th Grade Fern Creek High School

🍄 LEVEL UP: KSA Testing Week is Here! 🍄
Attention, Layne Elementary families! Our Lions are heading into World 1-1 of KSA testing starting tomorrow morning. We want all our players to have their "Health Meters" full and be ready to conquer every level this week!

To help our students reach the final flagpole, here is your Parent Power-Up Checklist:

⏰ Be on Time: The "game" starts early! Please ensure your student is at school by 7:30 AM so they can settle in and feel ready.

🍳 Fuel the Hero: A great quest requires energy. Make sure your student eats a hearty breakfast at home or joins us for breakfast here at school.

💤 Save Point: Ensure your student gets plenty of rest each night. A fully charged battery makes for a focused brain!

🗓️ The Schedule: Testing runs every day from Monday through Friday.

I’ve left a special "Power-Up" note on every student's desk to start the week with a boost of confidence. We’ve been training all year for this, and we know our Lions are going to be Super!

Let’s help them clear every level with a smile! 🌟
