The Dentist is Coming to Layne!
The School Smiles Dentist is coming to our school on 9/16/26! As a reminder, the dental team will set up in the school and see your child during the school day. School Smiles offers an Exam, Cleanings, X-Rays, Fluoride, as well as same day treatment if needed. This treatment can consist of Fillings, Sealants, or SDF. If you are interested in filling out a form for SDF or signing up your student to be seen please follow the link to the School Smiles Website www.schoolsmiles.com/student-signup, for any questions call 855-497-6453. If you need a paper copy to register your student, please contact the FRC at 502-515-9032.

Here's a quick heads up: if your student already has a backpack, please bring it, so we can tag it for transportation. No backpack yet? No worries—we've got you covered and will send one home with you!

Please review the Layne Elementary School 2026–2027 Uniform Guide to familiarize yourself with our school uniform expectations. This guide provides a quick reference to help ensure students come to school dressed according to the uniform policy each day.

• Daily sub-bus number (if applicable)
• Scheduled arrival time

We hope that your family has had a fun-filled, safe summer and that you’re ready to begin an exciting school year on August 6th.
Classroom assignments are made based on projected student enrollment and may change based on actual enrollment. Classroom requests are not always able to be honored due to space.

🖍️ Special Kindergarten Meet & Greet
Date: Thursday, July 23
Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
This is a vital opportunity to receive essential school information, visit classrooms, meet teachers, complete paperwork, register for car rider numbers, confirm bus information, purchase school apparel, and join the PTA. All incoming Kindergarten students and their parents/guardians are expected to attend.

What to bring:
Completed Forms: The enrollment form and Home Language survey included with your welcome letter.
Required Documentation: A copy of your child’s birth certificate, current immunization certificate, vision exam, dental exam, and physical examination forms.
Backpack: Your child's backpack (if they have one). If not, we will have one for them!
Note: No school supplies are needed; Layne Elementary will provide all necessary supplies!


🎒1st-5th Meet and Greet: Tuesday, August 4th
We are hosting a Meet and Greet on August 4th for students in 1st through 5th grades. Students and families are invited to come out for fun, backpack and prize giveaways, vendors, and more! All students are expected to attend.

What to bring:
The enrollment form included with your welcome letter.
Backpack: Your child's backpack (if they have one). If not, we will have one for them!
Please note: Students do NOT need to bring any school supplies this year. Layne Elementary will provide all necessary supplies!
During this time, you will meet and greet teachers, complete all school forms, register for car rider numbers, confirm bus information, purchase school apparel, and join the PTA. We will also be verifying transportation.

The Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) is hosting a Back-To-School- Blitz for families that need uniform assistance. If you need uniform assistance from CAP please use the link below to complete the information needed for the uniform request. The registration for CAP does not open until July 16th, but you can go ahead and fill out the google form so the FRC has your information to enter.
