You may receive this information in four different ways (email, Infinite Campus, JCPS app, text message). We are trying to ensure that all families receive it.

Hello Families!

The weather doesn't look like it will cooperate with us tomorrow, so the outside Turkey Trot event will be canceled.   The luncheon and book fair will still be on, so we hope you can make it!

Here’s everything you need to know, even if you can't do the Turkey Trot outside:

What Students Wear:

  • Attire: Athletic bottoms, tennis shoes, and either a Greathouse spirit wear shirt or the Turkey shirt.

Dare to Care Donations

We’re still collecting canned goods and items for Dare to Care.  Currently, we have collected over 1,000 items.  Tomorrow will be the last day to donate.

  • Donations can be dropped off in the cafeteria.

Thank you for supporting this important cause!

Schedule of Events

The lunch and bookfair schedules can be found here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Tg_LB0rTrOCmI7XUNMn3XEmOetWvPfmnUVy06rgTpK4/edit?gid=0#gid=0.

Parking

Parking at our school is limited, so plan ahead and allow extra time. Approved parking areas:

  1. Staff Lot (limited spaces)

  2. Parking spots at the gym entrance.  (Be aware of the carpool line forming at 1:00 PM.)

  3. Church Lot (avoid reserved spots or parking on the grass)

  4. In the neighborhood

  5. The morning drop-off loop

  6. Afternoon car rider lanes (be aware you may get blocked in)

Signing In

  • Sign in at the gym entrance (we will only use the front entrance if the rain is extremely heavy).

  • Bring an ID to sign in and receive a sticker, which must be worn at all times (outside jackets if needed).

  • Remember that you will not have access to the classroom.

Lunch Details

  • Remember: You must have RSVP, and it's best to prepay via MySchoolBucks or send cash/check in advance. If you pay at the register, it's cash only and exact change.

  • Families will meet their child(ren) in the cafeteria.  If you come earlier than your child's scheduled time, you will wait in the cafeteria.

  • Lunch cost: $5 per person.

  • If families aren’t attending lunch, children will sit with other students and families.

  • Adults can access water cups or milk provided with the meal.

While You’re There

  • Gobble Grams:

Send fun notes with candy to your child or other students!

    $2 for 1 or $5 for 3 (Cash Only)

  • Book Fair:

After lunch, families can visit the library book fair.

    • Your child's teacher will line the class up, and then you will be dismissed to the library.  You can not attend the book fair before your scheduled time.

    • After the book fair, families will exit the building, and your child will return to class.

    • You may only take your child to the book fair, not their friends.

 Signing Out

  • If you sign your child out, it will be an UNEXCUSED TARDY because there is a regular school day.  Please inform the teacher in advance so they can bring all their items to lunch.  They won't be able to go back to the classroom to get them.  Families can ONLY sign out their own child from school.

Money & Payments

We understand many families prefer cashless options. Here’s what’s accepted:

  • Book Fair: Cash, check, or card.

  • Gobble Grams & Coupon Books: Prefer exact change or checks.

  • Lunch (if necessary): Exact change only.

Thank you for your understanding!  Also, the Donut NV truck scheduled is unable to attend due to the weather.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow for lunch and the book fair.

All JCPS schools and buildings will open and operate as normal on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025. Our crews tested the water and air quality at all of our schools and buildings today and everything came back normal. Louisville Metro Government officials have also informed us that it is safe to reopen schools. Our thoughts remain with all those affected by Tuesday’s tragic plane crash.

Dear JCPS families,

We appreciate your understanding as our schools and buildings are closed today while the city has implemented a necessary shelter-in-place due to last night’s tragic plane crash.

Today, our teams are checking the air and water quality at all of our schools and buildings. We are doing these checks out of an abundance of caution, as the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

If you and your family need food assistance today, please reach out to Dare to Care Food Bank:
Website: DaretoCare.org
Phone: (502) 966-3821

We know situations like what happened last night impact our students in different ways. Every JCPS school has a mental health team that is available to talk with students about how they are feeling. If your child would like support when we return to class, please reach out to their school.

As a reminder, we provide important updates via text, email, JCPS social media platforms, the JCPS app, our website, and local media.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff.
