Families we appreciate your support as we have transitioned to our new car rider arrival and dismissal process. As we continue to strengthen our process we want to remind you of some helpful tips that can help us along the way:

-Please make sure your scholars know their car rider numbers as well as first and last name. You can practice this with them at home

-Please remind your scholars that during dismissal they should be quiet and actively listening for their car rider number.

-Families please make sure you are entering the car rider line at a speed limit of 5 mph. You must drive slow once you are on school property.

-Please make sure you safely pull your car all the way up behind the car in front of you. Gaps between cars does not allow us to utilize the car rider loop space for efficient arrival and dismissal

-Please pay attention to what line you are directed to enter in.

Lastly please continue to give us grace as we perfect our car rider process. A reminder that as our process becomes more efficient the line will move faster. We appreciate your cooperation.

Dear Hartstern Families,

Thank you for your patience today as we worked through the first day of our new car rider arrival and dismissal process. We know the wait was longer than expected, and we sincerely apologize for the delay.

As with any new system, it takes a little time for everyone to adjust. We’re confident that arrival and dismissal will move much more smoothly once families and students become familiar with the routine. We truly appreciate your grace and understanding as we get things running efficiently and safely.

To help us move quicker tomorrow, please make sure your child knows their car rider number and that it is clearly displayed on their backpack tag and in your car window during dismissal. This small step can make a big difference in speeding things up.

Please also keep in mind the following reminders to help ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone:

-Arrival is in Lane One & Two, Same As Dismissal

-For Dismissal do not arrive before 3:30 PM. Early arrivals cause unnecessary traffic congestion in the neighborhood. You will not be granted access to the car rider line until 3:30PM

-Wait for staff signal before allowing your child to exit the vehicle.

-Drive slowly and stay close (but safe) to the car in front of you—no gaps between vehicles.

-Stop at all cones and do not pass any cones until directed by staff.

-No lane switching. Once you're in a lane, please stay in that lane.

-Only 24 cars will be directed into the four-lane pick-up area at a time.

-24 students will be released at once, walking with staff to their assigned vehicles in a line. Your child needs to stay in the line until they get to your car.

-Wait for the All Clear signal before moving your vehicle.

-We are committed to keeping your children safe and making this process as efficient as possible. Thank you for your continued cooperation, patience, and support.

Sincerely,
Hartstern Elementary School

Families we are using a new app for communication between our families and school. Please note this includes parent to teacher communication. Please ensure you have downloaded the JCPS, KY App from the iOS App Store or Android Play Store and enable Notifications.

Once students begin classes you will receive an automated message or email that will allow you to sign up for your students individual classroom. In this classroom you will be able to see what they are doing in classes along with direct messaging to the teacher. This messenger will translate in real time for effective communication and you will be able to reply in your primary language.

We will provide more updates regarding this as they are received and appreciate you for choosing Hartstern Elementary as your scholars educational home away from home!
