❄ NTI DAYS | After evaluating road conditions throughout the community, Wednesday, Jan. 28 and Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, will be Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days for JCPS students and staff.
While our crews report that most main roads are in good shape, many side streets and neighborhood roads across the county remain hazardous. Due to these lingering conditions and low temperatures, we believe transitioning to NTI is the safest choice for our students and staff.
Students should follow their school’s established NTI protocols. NTI days are recognized as standard instructional days and will not extend the school calendar.
All after school athletic and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday and Thursday. If there are any changes to the YMCA CEP program, families will be notified by YMCA CEP.

This school event on the evening of February 19 is a chance for Fern Creek students to show off their style and dance the night away with friends! Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets cost $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child in a household. Ticket sales start this week!

Due to forecasted frigid temperatures in the early morning hours on Monday, December 15, 2025, we have made the decision to use a Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) day for students and staff. ❄️IMPORTANT | Due to forecasted winter weather, all JCPS events scheduled for 7 p.m. or later this evening (Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025) are canceled. A decision on Friday’s schedule will be announced tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Attention Car Rider parents. Many families experienced delays this week in the car line. The cold, and sometimes snowy weather, has impacted the time it takes to receive all students by 9:40 a.m. Please plan to arrive by 9:35 a.m. in case of delays. To help make it possible for all students to begin learning on time:
Pull as far forward as you can when you arrive. The extra seconds your child has to walk to the door can save our line many minutes.
Park in the lot if you plan to stop and help your student out of the car. When you stop, you delay other families and their student. Staff has been instructed not to open doors for students.
The doors will close at 9:40 a.m. If it is near that time, consider coming to the front to sign in instead of the back. After 9:40 you must come to the front to sign in.
We use an automatic bell schedule at FCES. We close all doors (including classroom doors) at the 9:40 a.m. bell for the start of instruction. Our regular arrival staff will use hand signals so that you know how many minutes you have before the door will close.
When your child arrives between 9:10 and 9:30, they do not have to miss a single minute.
It takes a few minutes to get from the doors to any of the classrooms. Arriving right at 9:40 may create frustration for students who have to knock and come in after the rest of the class has already begun their day.
