Farnsley Families: As we have addressed the safest and most efficient processing of car rider drop off and pick up, we want to stress that the safest is the use of the car rider line through the bus compound. Dropping off at alternate locations such as Idle Hour Dr. or the gas station poses a safety concern especially as they walk across busy streets. For the last 2 mornings, the car rider line has been complete by 8:35 and 8:37 am. It is feasible to access the line and process through in less than 8 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation and working through this process. Carolyn B Smith

A Message from Principal Smith: Thank you to those who have patiently waited in the Car Rider Line to receive/drop off their students promptly. We have noticed that some families have chosen an alternate pick-up/drop-off method. If this is the case, please note that the plan that the school has put in place is the priority during those high-volume times and as is such, the crossing guards give priority to those in the official Car Rider Line. Though we cannot condone or encourage pick-up/drop off outside of the school property, we ask that you follow the traffic patterns - only right hand turns from Idle Hour Dr., and into the Car Rider starting point of the Compound. We ask that above all, you always practice safety procedures in yielding to pedestrians; not entering the bus rider loop; not parking in the staff parking lot; not making a U-Turn in the middle of the road; and not letting students in/out on main roads. Thank you again for your attention to these details and safety concerns.

To support a greater need for safe release of students in the car rider line, the car rider line will go down to 1 lane of drop offs in the morning. There have been one too many close calls of a student passing by a distracted driver to get to the sidewalk. Since the city has approved our request to have the Lee's Lane/Cane Run Road light extend in our favor during arrival and dismissal times, we should be able to process students on and off our campuses more efficiently and most of all... safer! We appreciate all that you do to support our processing.

In review of the traffic during the morning hours, the highest volume of traffic is between 8:15 - 8:30. Even then, those students get into the building in time to not have to sign in late to school. Therefore, make yourself a note to leave out about 5-minutes earlier so to give sufficient time for drop off.

Please see the attached images for information from the PTSA.

Have a great week,

Principal Smith
