Enrollment Procedures

     Central is an "all-magnet" school. Eighth grade students wishing to attend Central must submit an application to attend during the Open Enrollment period for Jefferson County Public Schools. The initial application is sent to the Office of Optional, Magnet, and Advance Programs at the VanHoose Education Center. Applicants will then receive a Central Magnet Application. Prospective students must submit to Central a school transcript of sixth and seventh grade (minimum GPA of 2.5), achievement test scores (minimum of 3 stanine), academic recommendation from math or science teacher, administrative recommendation, and a writing sample verified and signed by an English teacher.
