NJROTC

Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps NJROTC is a jointly sponsored Navy and secondary school, citizenship and leadership program. NJROTC teaches self discipline and self confidence and leadership skills to help students successfully meet life's challenges. The NJROTC program is taught by retired officers and enlisted personnel. The NJROTC program is open to any student in grades nine through twelve who meets the physical standards of the NJROTC program.

NJROTC is an educational program and cadets are under no Navy obligations. However, if after high school some individuals choose to join the armed forces, successful completion of the NJROTC program allows entry in to the armed forces up to two pay grades higher than fellow enlistees without junior ROTC experience. NJROTC can be a big help for students enlisting in the service, seeking nomination to the Navy Academy, or interested in qualifying for an NJROTC college scholarship.

NJROTC cadets take part in ship training cruises, orientation visits, and field trips to various navel activities to enhance their classroom experiences. NJROTC encourages formation of drill teams, group activities, marksmanship teams, and other types of extracurricular activities. NJROTC cadets are provided with uniforms, books, training aids, and other types of equipment paid for by the Navy.
