JCPS uses Microsoft Live@edu as our e-mail system.

  1. The URL for webmail is http://www.outlook.com.
  2. An alternative URL for use in district is https://mail.kyschools.us.
  3. Users must enter their complete e-mail address in the username field or Windows Live ID field.

Live@edu has an excellent HELP menu which can be accessed by clicking the Help icon, (little blue circle containing the white question mark) located in the upper right hand corner, or through their website http://help.outlook.com.

Mobile Devices

Configuring Mobile Devices to Access your E-Mail directions. (Follow the directions for Microsoft Exchange)

For assistance in determining your phone's features and for specific directions for configuring your phone: http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/cc825479.aspx . Scroll to bottom of page to view phones.

The exact steps required to set up your mobile phone for Exchange ActiveSync may vary, but these generic steps will assist you in setting up your mobile phone for Exchange ActiveSync.

  1. On your mobile phone, launch the Exchange ActiveSync application or the phone's mail application and choose Exchange ActiveSync or Microsoft Exchange.
  2. Enter your user name (entire email address) and your password.
  3. Enter your Exchange ActiveSync server name. (m.outlook.com)
  4. Finish setting up your account. (http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/cc511380.aspx)

When asked to enter the server name, enter: m.outlook.com This server name is for use with mobile devices only.

When asked to enter a username, enter your entire email address.

To access JCPS's Wireless Network: Submit a Service Request on line (http://apps.jefferson.k12.ky.us/HeatJCPS/) or by calling 3552, to have the Mac Address or Physical Address of the device entered into the Radius Server. Please consult your owner's manual on how to obtain the WiFi Address.

Live@edu

Users are encouraged to use Webmail (OWA). Live@edu is efficient and effective.

  • Windows users may use Microsoft Outlook 2007.
  • Live@edu will not function using Outlook 2003.
  • Macintosh users may use Entourage 2008 or Apple Mail.
  • Live@edu requires a 6 to 16 character password. Please follow this handout (Windows XP) for changing your network password. Windows 7 users note that while the screenshots are different, please follow the same directions.

Installing Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

The installer for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is available on:
(Start > Run > \\staffzonef2 > STCs > Installers > Software Packages > Outlook 2007. Launch: SETUP). The user must have administrative rights on the computer to install software.

Directions for Configuring Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

Use these directions:

  • when a profile does not exist. (First time use) (Revised 5/24/10)
  • when a profile has previously been created. You must create a new profile to access your new email. (revised 3/24/2011)
    • If a profile has previously been created in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, launch Outlook 2007. Outlook 2007 may automatically configure itself, linking to your existing address book and profile. The user may be prompted to enter their email address (in the username field) and password.
