Online Professional Development (ePD)
All JCPS employees are encouraged to participate in electronic professional development (ePD). ePD allows participants to receive job-specific instruction at their convenience. Current JCPS ePD opportunities include:

Things to know before you take any JCPS ePD:
- ePD Endorsement is a requirement for taking online PDs. (Taking Join the CLICK! will also meet the prerequisite requirement for taking online PDs.
- There are cut off dates when an ePD must be successfully completed in order for those hours to be counted toward a PD flex day. This schedule it posted in each ePD.
To register for an ePD session:
- Log on to PD Central
- Type epd in the Quick Start box
- Select the desired course
- Add your name to the waiting list for the course
- Await notification of enrollment in ePD course

ePD – Endorsement Online
(Note: taking Join the CLICK will also meet the endorsement requirement.)
This two hour ePD session must be completed before you can take other ePDs. This professional development session is designed to orient you to JCPS Online, the ANGEL virtual learning environment. Once endorsed, individuals may enroll in other ePD courses that may be completed anytime and anyplace.
This course is now available to take Online. Directions to access the course are:
1) Log in to JCPS Online (from JCPS main website), 2) Click Find A Course located under the section Courses, 3) Search for: Endorsement Online, 4) Click on 'Pin Enroll' and type in: endorse-me as the PIN, 5) Click on the title Endorsement Online to open the course. This course now appears on your Home Page.

ePD – Exploring Models in an Online Environment
This ePD lets you explore different types of course and groups that have been created within the online environment. Look into an online math course, a staff group, training, a social studies class and a few more to gain a better understanding of how the environment can work for you.

ePD – Creating an Online Environment
Prerequisite: ePD Endorsement or Join the Click
This is the beginning course to learn how to use JCPS Online in your classroom, department, or school. Learn how to add folders, pages, upload files for students to use. See how to set up a drop box so that students can turn in their work from anywhere. Learn to post pages that contain class notes, directions for projects, links to educational websites and documents, set up a discussion to discuss a book or use as a personal journal. Learn tools to use as a formative assessment to help you guide your lessons such as a quiz, crossword puzzle, or a quiz show.

ePD – Actions, Tokens, and Environmental Variables
Prerequisite: ePD Endorsement or Join the Click and A JCPS Online Course or Group in which they are the Instructor.
This three hour ePD is a continuation of learning you can utilize in your JCPS Online course which will introduce you to a variety of actions through guided practice activities. Actions can provide individualized learning by allowing access to content after a certain criteria or event has happened. Messages to the student can be personalized. Actions can be used to send an email to the instructor to indicate the completion of a quiz, or when an item has been accessed.

ePD – Digital Storytelling
Prerequisite: ePD Endorsement or Join the Click
This ePD is divided into 3 sections. The first section focuses on what is a digital story including characteristics of an effective digital story. The second section discusses the importance of planning the movie, including web resources to find images and music. The last section is the production section. You can choose to explore a variety of tools that you can use to create your digital story, including several Web 2.0 tools such as Animoto or Masher; or you can use Photo Story 3 software or other multimedia software.

ePD – SMART Notebook Software Basics
Prerequisite: ePD Endorsement or Join the Click
Learn how to use the SMART Notebook Software in the classroom. This ePD is divided into two parts. Part One will explore the different features of the software such as ink tools, creating shapes, inserting text, using Gallery objects and more. In Part Two you will create a lesson using Notebook Software applying the features learned in Part One.
