Board charts a new course for school district

Signaling a new direction for JCPS, the Jefferson County Board of Education unanimously approved vision, mission, values, focus areas, and goals statements at its February 13, 2012 board meeting.

The statements embody the beliefs and views of the board as well as those of community members who also had an opportunity to offer comments prior to final adoption. The recommendations presented in the Curriculum Management Audit™ in January align closely with the focus areas the Board has identified.

Board Chairman Stephen Imhoff says, “The adoption of these statements is a giant step towards the board’s approving a long range strategic plan for the district later this year,” He adds, “The curriculum audit is the engine that will drive the strategic plan and guide the way for JCPS to reach proficiency across the board and help all students succeed.”
