Audition Process

Please follow these simple instructions to insure accurate and speedy processing of your application.

Fill out the OPTIONS/MAGNETS APPLICATION. These are available online (follow the link above), from your school counselor, the Youth Performing Arts School, or the VanHoose Education Center. The signature of a parent or guardian is required. (YPAS is categorized as a Magnet School.)

Your name and audition request will be sent to Mr. Reedy’s office via computer. Once Mr. Reedy has received your application information, an audition time and date will be mailed to your home. Audition requirements, student profile forms, and information on the various YPAS programs will be included in the mailing.

While waiting for your audition you will need to collect and assemble the following items:


	A one page essay entitled:
	"Why I want to attend the Youth Performing Arts School."
	A resume'.
	A photograph of yourself. (Attach the picture to your resume.)
	A copy of your middle-school transcripts. (Xerox copies will suffice.)

Mail the one page essay, resume', picture, and transcripts to the following address by January 15. All paperwork must be submitted prior to the audition.

(DO NOT mail the essay, resume’ picture, and transcripts to the VanHoose Education Center with your Options and Magnets Application.)

Have two people who know you and your arts abilities fill out the Student Profile Forms. The person completing them should mail these forms to YPAS.

Report to YPAS on your assigned date and time ready to audition. If you plan to audition in more than one area, you must phone J. C. Reedy at YPAS and inform him. Your auditions will be scheduled on separate days, and you will need duplicate copies of your resume’, essay, picture, and transcripts mailed to YPAS indicating which information packet goes with which audition.
