School Profile

Maryhurst provides residential treatment, an accredited on-campus school, treatment oriented foster care, and supervised transitional living.

Maryhurst provides intensive treatment into two residential settings for girls with out-of-control, highly destructive behaviors. A large portion of the population is chemically dependent and may need psychotropic medication. Special education services are provided based on students’ Individual Education Plans.

  • Population Served: Girls’ ages 12-18 (Grades Seven through Twelve)
  • Specific Characteristics: Residential students with out-of-control destructive behaviors. Residents may have emotional, behavioral or learning handicaps.
  • Maximum Enrollment: 65
  • Average Length of Stay: 1 year
  • School Schedule: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Maryhurst yearly calendar coincides with Jefferson County Public Schools.

School Programs

Maryhurst School offers a fully accredited special education school for grades seven through twelve. In most instances, girls with IQ’s of 75 and above are served.

The school conducts testing to determine individual learning needs so as to develop Individualized Educational Treatment Plans (IETPs) for each girl. School class size averages eight to nine to ensure intensive teacher attention to academic and behavioral needs of students.

Referral Process

Approximately 95 percent of residents are committed to the Cabinet for Families and Children. Maryhurst does accommodate private placements and placements from other states.
