Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) - A Volunteer Opportunity
The Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) is a program sponsored by the 15th District PTA and JCPS. The mission of the program is to help reduce absenteeism by assuring that students in need of school clothes have appropriate school clothing. This program is operated entirely by volunteers and each PTSA is asked to send 3 to 4 volunteers twice a year to help at CAP. Eastern's scheduled work days are September 15 and January 12. Volunteers need to arrive at the 15th District PTA Clothes Closet in the Junior Achievement Office, 319 South 15th Street near Central High School stadium, at 9:30 and stay until 12:00 or we can arrange to carpool from Eastern at 9:00. Volunteers will assist clients and sort and hang clothes. This is a very worthwhile program which needs our support. If you are available to volunteer, please contact: Gayle Boyd, CAP coordinator at 245-7170.

Eastern Hospitality Opportunities
The Hospitality Committee provides refreshments for various events throughout the year, including Freshman Orientation, Open House, 8th grade Open House, and Teacher Appreciation, just to name a few. We are always looking for parents, students, teachers and staff to help participate with these events by way of providing food items and/or drinks, volunteering to help set up, clean up or working the event in some capacity. This is a fun way to meet people and get involved in the PTSA at Eastern, without taking up too much of your time. If you are interested or have questions, you may contact Carole Boudreau at crboudreau@insightbb.com.

EHS PTSA Programs
I know that we have some new drivers and want to remind everyone to be courteous and drive safely. If you have recently gotten your drivers permit or drivers license or will be getting one during this school year, the PTSA would like to say congratulations. We have a gift and some information about the graduated licensing program for you in the bookstore (during lunch time). Just stop by and show the volunteer your permit or license and they will give it to you.
