Student Technology Leadership Program
STLP is a project learning program that empowers students at Eastern
to use technology in and out of the classroom.
At Eastern, STLP is a service organization that meets after school
and sponsors LAN Parties and school improvement projects like
Eagle-NET Day and Saturday Tech Workdays.
LAN Parties
Three times a year STLP sponsors activities called LAN Parties.
Students stay overnight at the school and bring in their own computers.
They connect these computers to each other and form a huge network.
College recruiters also attend the LAN parties.
In addition to learning about networking computers together,
the students have a great time eating pizza, shooting aliens,
devouring massive quantities of chips and hotdogs, shooting more
aliens and playing role-play games.
By morning they clean up the area and head home for some well-earned
sleep. STLP raises money at these parties to finance A+, Net+
and CISCO certification testing.
