National Honor Society

     The National Honor Society is a concrete way to promote high school academic standards, a means of ensuring the continuation of democracy, and an instrument for the betterment of the individual and the school. The National Honor Society was founded in 1921. Members of the society exemplify the ideals of scholarship, character, service, and leadership.

Selection Procedure

  • Selection of students for membership is the responsibility of the faculty council.

  • The selection procedure shall be determined by the faculty council and must be published.

  • Students' academic records shall be reviewed to determine scholastic eligibility. Students must have a 3.5 or above GPA to be eligible for membership.

  • Students must be in the 11th or 12th grade to be eligible for membership.

  • Students must demonstrate outstanding character, leadership, and/or service to be eligible for membership.

  • Candidates receiving a majority vote of the faculty council shall be inducted into the chapter.
