Freshman Year

During the freshman rotation in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship

Magnet, freshman students are provided with an introduction to the curriculum and the unique opportunities available within this magnet. In addition, coverage of the practical living core content, specifically critical thinking and conflict resolution is emphasized.




Sophomore Year

Curriculum: Business and Marketing Career Exploration

Students study business and marketing career paths and develop skills needed for school-to-work transition. Special emphasis is placed on such topics as ethics, economics, personal finance, teambuilding, and business writing to prepare students to be successful in the business world and in their personal lives. Leadership development is provided through opportunities, such as Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), 4-H American Private Enterprise System Program, and Reality Store.


Junior Year

Curriculum: Principles of Marketing

Students concentrate on learning the principles of marketing and continue to be the workforce for the Papa John’s restaurant. Students participate in DECA and Junior Achievement Programs.

Emphasis is placed on working in teams during major projects to prepare students to run their business during their senior year. They create and plan the marketing for products in teams. Students also explore their future education goals by researching postsecondary options and preparing for the application process. Students are trained to work in the Papa John’s restaurant.


Senior Year

Curriculum: Entrepreneurship

Senior magnet students earn one credit each semester. The classroom instruction concentrates on Entrepreneurship and Management along with hands-on experience as a manager of the Papa John’s restaurant. Students learn firsthand about the rewards and risks of business ownership. Leadership and management skills are further developed through DECA.

Students who successfully complete the following course of studies graduate with a Management/Entrepreneurship Marketing Career major endorsed by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE).
