School Profile

Cane Run's Environmental Studies curriculum is brought to life by outdoor investigations that culminate in field studies at each grade level—field studies that activate students’ imaginations and deepen their understanding of the world. Environmental studies also help students master basic academic skills and reinforce lessons in other elementary subjects, such as math and science. The program is creating the next generation of citizen scientists who will contribute to a sustainable and just world community.

The small class size at Cane Run offers many benefits. Students get more individual attention. They have more time to ask questions, and teachers have more time to explain the answers. With an average class size of just 20 students, beginning with first grade, Cane Run teachers are better able to tailor instruction for your child, and research shows that the benefits of small classes in the early years continue to pay off as students advance to middle and high school.
