School Profile

Welcome to Brandeis Elementary, Jefferson County Public Schools’ first elementary magnet program.  Brandeis is a magnet program with a well established reputation for excellence and a twenty year track record to prove it.  At this outstanding school, students receive a strong foundational education with a special focus in the areas of math, science and technology which prepares them for life in the 21st century.  Here they will learn from teachers who have dedicated their lives and careers to educating children using the most effective and exciting programs; and who exemplify character, motivation, and love of learning.

The basis of any elementary education is a strong foundation in reading, writing and mathematical literacy.  Students find that at Brandeis where interesting projects are used to enhance student interest and motivation as they learn and apply the basics.  Creativity and diverse thinking add levels of depth and intensity to our students’ instruction. Our program, however, goes far beyond the basics – using integration as a tool to increase student knowledge of all areas of learning including the fine arts.

The facility houses a fully equipped science lab in which students receive additional science instruction utilizing the scientific method and hands on science to supplement the science instruction they receive daily in their classrooms.  Two technology labs allow students to learn about and apply technology as a tool for learning and living.  As with the science lab, these labs supplement the technology available to students in their daily classroom experiences.

Brandeis is a district wide magnet program, which means that we are not part of any cluster of schools.  Our students come to us and transportation is provided from all areas of Jefferson County.  This also means that our students and parents have made a decision to be part of this incredible program.  This choice has created a natural diversity which reflects many cultures and heritages from around the world.  Brandeis boasts a student population which has origins in over 20 countries worldwide.
Brandeis is a school where effective instructional practices and proven educational programs are applied in a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere to produce students who are literate lifelong learners, well prepared to function in the high tech world of our future.
