Dress Code Information and Policies

Dress code for Pre-K (3- and 4-year-old program) is optional.

Dress Code

Shirts/ Blouses

Nothing with print or pictures on them

  • Oxford shirt -- light blue, white, navy blue

  • Polo shirt -- light blue, white, navy blue

  • Turtleneck -- light blue, white, navy blue

  • Roosevelt-Perry Elementary T-shirts
    (May be purchased at the school bookstore)

All shirts must have a collar.

Sweaters, Sweatshirts

  • Gray, navy blue sweaters

  • Gray, navy blue sweatshirts
    (Nothing with print or pictures on them)

  • Roosevelt-Perry Elementary Sweatshirts
    (May be purchased at the school bookstore.)

Sweatshirts must be worn over a dress code shirt/blouse.

Slacks, Shorts

Slacks/Shorts must have belt loops.
Shorts may be worn only in July, August, September, April, May, June.

  • Khaki (tan), Navy blue, black (No jeans or denim.)

Skirts, Jumpers

Girls with smaller waists are encouraged to wear jumpers.

  • Khaki (tan), Navy blue, black (No jeans or denim.)

Socks, Stockings, Tights

  • White, Navy, black, brown

Belts (Optional for 5 year olds)

  • Brown, blue, black


Policies

  • Shirts/Blouses are to be fully tucked into pants/skirts.

  • Belts/Suspenders must be worn with pants.

  • Pants may not sag and must fit correctly.

  • Blue, black, tan shorts may be worn in August, September, April, May, and June only.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes should have closed toes and heels. Flip flops, shower shoes, house shoes, clogs, or jellies are unacceptable.

  • ONLY Roosevelt-Perry T-shirts and sweatshirts may be worn. Sweatshirts must be worn over a regular collared shirt. (Sweatshirts and T-Shirts may be purchased at the school bookstore.)

  • Girls MAY NOT wear make-up at school or false finger nails.

  • All keys on a necklace MUST be worn on the inside of the student's shirt.

  • Students may not wear jewelry that distracts from learning (for example, dangle earrings, light-up necklaces, etc.)

  • No jackets may be worn in the classroom.

  • The principal is the final authority in matters pertaining to appearance, and will determine days and situations for "casual dress" (i.e. field trips/special events).


Consequences

If a student comes to school out of dress code, the following steps will be taken.

  • The parent will be contacted and required to bring the appropriate clothing.

  • If the parent is home but does not have transportation, the child will be driven home by appropriate school staff.

  • If parents cannot be reached, a letter will be sent home reminding parents of the dress code violations.

  • Failure to comply with the dress code will result in a mandatory meeting with the principal.


Dress Code Assistance

The Family Resource Center will distribute dress code clothing in emergency cases only (child wets, clothes rip, etc.).
