Mission
The mission of the Minors Lane Elementary Library Media Center is to impact student learning by utilizing the library to teach information literacy skills, promote reading, and collaborate with teachers, which leads to student achievement.
Checkout Policies
Students
Students may check out a book for one week. Intermediate students may check out two books. If students want to keep the materials longer, they must renew the books for the week. No books are to be renewed for more than a four-week period.
Faculty
Faculty may check out materials for as long as they need them.

JCPS offers parents support information on services and programs, getting involved, and policies as well as other resources for parents to help their children be successful in school.

Awesome Library for Kids is a very colorful Web site in a simple and straight-forward format. Students simply select the school subject they wish to study from the opening page grid. Games, adventures, projects, and authors are just a few of the fun and educational topics offered on this Web site.
Fact Monster
Icons on this Web site guide students in the right direction. A wide array of topics include people, math and money, science, and sports. Happy hunting!
JCPS Students Page
Check out the online resources on the "Students" section. Select Elementary, Middle, or High. These sections include such topics as homework help, academic skills practice, an academic game center, a reference tool box, and information on clubs and sports.
Kidspace @ Internet Public Library
Exploring this site could really prove beneficial with those troublesome homework questions. The Web design also helps you locate information quickly while providing stimulating features.
KY Virtual Library (KYVL)
A wide variety of research tools can be found on this site. On your home computer, you need to select the "Find Books, Articles and More" heading. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and select Grolier Encyclopedias. Here you will need to enter your ID and password. These can be obtained from your school librarian. From this page, you can select many resources, such as dictionaries, atlases, and encyclopedias. At school, you do not need the ID and password. The schools are automatically linked to this site.
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
This is a no-nonsense site for those times you need a dictionary. Merriam-Webster for Kids is also a link at the top of the page you will want to explore. Imaginative graphics with school themes lead you through the site.
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) Reading Planet
The RIF Reading Planet Web site not only contains homework help but also games and activities to engage students. When students visit the Book Zone, they can listen and read along with stories as well as browse author Web sites.

When navigating this site, a helpful hint is to click on Instructional Resources and then Teaching Tools. Here you will find the Program of Studies, Revised 2006 as well as the Core Content for Assessment, version 4.1. KET EncycloMedia is also showcased on this page, featuring more than 4,000 videos and thousands of video clips.
Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) for Teachers
This is an excellent source for scholarly reports with a wide array of databases. EBSCO helps the researcher find articles in such noted journals as the School Library Journal, Teacher Librarian, and Book Report. Masterfile Premier and MAS Ultra--School Edition are just a few of the databases used. This site is sponsored by KDE.
Web/MAX III
This is the new Internet booking system from the Department of Library Media Services' AudioVisual Office. Reserve materials online, such as DVDs, laserdiscs, puppets, and videos. Login is provided to teachers by LMS.
