Student Dress Code

Students should be encouraged to wear suitable clothing to school. Clothing must be clean, safe, and not disruptive to the school program. The following student dress code is in effect at Minors Lane Elementary:

No hats
Shirts must cover the shoulders (no halter tops or spaghetti straps).
No midriff tops/shirts--navel must be covered.
Shorts and skirts must be an appropriate length (a suitable guideline is fingertip length).
Clothing must cover underwear, and pants must stay on the hips and not drag the floor--no sagging!
Clothing cannot contain any inappropriate messages, pictures, or other graphics, such as those advocating drug or alcohol use, violence, or foul language.
Shoes with wheels are not permitted to be used at any time during the school day (the wheels must be retracted or removed).

Recommendations

The safest shoes for your child to wear are athletic shoes with socks. Please be aware of your child's daily activities and the weather, and dress him or her appropriately.
