School Profile

Mill Creek, “A Place Where Visions Come True,” offers a traditional approach to learning and takes pride in providing learning experiences that will help each child reach his/her highest potential. Mill Creek also offers enrichment and remedial programs to teach students how to “Learn to Apply Basic Skills” (LABS). The focus this year is on reading, through Direct Instruction, in combination with the Child Development Project Literature Strand. Mill Creek encourages students’ involvement through a variety of programs: Student Council, Safety Patrol, WMCE (daily newscast), technology team, In-School Scouting, basketball team, cheerleading and children’s tennis lessons. Mill Creek has a uniform dress code, Mathematics/Science Lab, Early-Bird Extended School Services and Small-Savers Bank. Mill Creek participates in the Health Promotion School of Excellence and the Comprehensive Partnership for Minority Student Achievement. The Family Resource Center located on the campus, provides programs for families that support the educational initiatives of the school such as The Parent Academy, Family Reading Program, and Family Fun Events. The School-Based Decision Making Council and PTA welcome parent input.
