School Profile

Greenwood Elementary is dedicated to educating students for the future. Teachers and staff are trained in America’s Choice for School Design, a standards-based model for school reform, focusing on students’ achievement at high levels. Greenwood prepares students for the world of work by teaching them to use computers, multimedia equipment, and other high-technology tools. Through the Student Technology Leadership Program, students have the opportunity to be technology assistants and to showcase their work in a public arena. Students prepare and conduct their own television broadcasts through WGES, seen daily throughout the school’s network. In addition, students publish articles in the weekly Gator Bites. As a Health Promotion School of Excellence, Greenwood emphasizes physical fitness and wellness for students and staff. The school welcomes parents and community members through involvement in volunteerism, visits, and conferences.
