School Profile

Frayser is a Child Development Project school focusing on teaching students to respect and care for others and their community in conjunction with a scientific research based curriculum. The curriculum includes: Five Block Reading addressing guided reading, word work, writing, and community reading and conversation through making meaning, and writing; Math Investigations with hands-on exploration of math concepts using manipulatives; and FOSS Science Modules focuses on developing science concepts through observation, experiments, making connections to our world, and use of specific scientific vocabulary. Every 1 Reads volunteers includes Frayser Teachers and staff. Our newest unit is English as a Second Language. Extended School Services are offered to support Frayser students throughout the year. The Family Resource Center works to enhance the success of students and families by providing support services and academic programs such as the Frayser Super Readers Club. Parents are invited to join students for Literacy Lunches and Family Nights. Students have many opportunities to be involved in activities such as basketball, literacy club, band, Tae Kwon Do, Games Club, Shakespeare, and Safety Patrol.
