School Profile

Stephen Foster Academy offers a Traditional Program as well as an Advanced Placement Program, Head Start and Preschool programs. Students at Foster wear uniforms to promote an effective atmosphere for learning. This Health Promotion School of Excellence encourages parents to become involved with the school through the PTA, volunteering to become mentors, an Every 1 Reads Program reading volunteer, or becoming members of the School-Based Decision Making Council. A caring atmosphere is created through the implementation of the Care for Kids Program. Students have the opportunity to learn about art, music, physical education, library and research skills, and computer education once a week during special area classes. Extended School Services also are offered to enhance learning. Our school’s technology is expanding beyond the computer lab with the use of SMART Boards, document cameras, and clicker systems. Each teacher has a laptop and projector to use with their class, as well as four student computers. We have various activities for students to be involved with, such as basketball, cheerleading, Choir, Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP), and Child Enrichment Program (CEP) – After School Programs.
