Elementary School Counselors

JCPS elementary school guidance counselors are an important part of the school community and are leaders in their schools in promoting student achievement. The elementary school years are a time when students are developing communication skills and attitudes about school and peers. The counselor serves a unique role in helping mold character traits that will help students develop friendships and be successful in school. Helping students learn at an early age to resolve conflicts peacefully and to make good choices is the hallmark of the elementary developmental guidance curriculum. Combined with individual and small group counseling, the counselor provides a range of services to students. Focusing on student achievement, the counselor assists students in planning for the middle and high school years as well as developing a perspective on career choices. Parents who want information or assistance are encouraged to contact their elementary school counselor or click on the links on this page.
