JCPSeSchool History
JCPSeSchool became an active presence on the internet on January 29, 2000. It is an environment that allows connected learning from anywhere, any place, at any time, at any pace. Learners, who are members of this community, are able to access interactive courses and participate in project groups. Courses and groups have secure group mailing, e-mail access to certified teachers and the ability to share content for development. This environment focuses on student learning.
JCPSeSchool has grown into an environment that serves grades 3-14. In 2008-09, JCPSeSchool had more than 24,000 active enrollments in over 75 school districts in 12 states. Elementary teachers have access to various curriculum tools; middle school students have access to various recovery modules in reading, writing, and math. High school students have access to a full complement of required and elective high school courses and dual credit opportunities. JCPSeSchool also provides prep modules to help students prepare for state testing.
As we near our 10-year anniversary, we have grown from three teachers to 30, three half-credit high school courses to over 56, nine dual credit courses, middle school recovery courses and elementary teacher tools. We look forward to continued growth in online education and hope to continue to offer alternative opportunities for all students to succeed.
