I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Louisville. I also attended Kentucky Wesleyan College to get my teaching certificate and Indiana Wesleyan to get my Rank I certification. I taught Chemistry and Physics at Assumption High school in Louisville, KY for eight years. At that point, I applied for a position in the Jefferson County Public School system and was hired at Butler Traditional High School. I taught Chemistry for 15 years before leaving to come to JCPSeSchool. I have been at eSchool for several years now and I enjoy it immensely. Online learning was foreign to me until I came to eSchool and I have become a huge advocate of it. Not every student is meant for online learning, but there is a growing population of students who find that it is exactly what they need. The science lessons in my course are to the point and have graphics and videos to aid the student in learning the concept. One lesson is even in the form of a song. Virtual labs help the student to see an application of the concepts in real life situations. We are incorporating the writing of lab reports to ready the student with the skills she would need to take science courses in higher education pursuits.
