What is JCPSeSchool?
JCPSeSchool became a presence on the Internet on January 29, 2000. JCPSeSchool allows connected learning to take place from anywhere, at any time, and at any students' pace. Members of this community access interactive courses and work on projects in groups. Courses offer students secure group mailing, threaded discussions, group chats, and the opportunity to share content for development.
Who Enrolls in JCPSeSchool?
More than 6,000 students from across the United States and from several foreign countries are enrolled in JCPSeSchool. Students who have Internet access are able to work on their courses from anywhere in the world. Even students on a U.S. Navy vessel have completed courses with JCPSeSchool. Individuals can enroll. Schools and school systems can partner with us, using as few as 8 slots or as many as 800.
What Courses Do We Offer?
We offer more than 56 half-credit courses that are based on local, state and national standards. Students can earn credit toward a high school diploma as well as earn both high school and college credits by taking dual-credit courses. New courses are offered regularly. Who Should Take Advantage of Our Courses?
Anyone between the ages of 14 and 114 who wants to earn a high school diploma should check out the wide variety of easy-to-access courses that JCPSeSchool offers. We meet the needs of students who want to eliminate deficiencies on high school transcripts, who want to earn additional credits toward graduation, who seek educational enrichment, and who want to earn college credit.
Students age 16 and over can apply to become a full-time student with us and work toward earning a diploma from Jefferson County High School. Students who earn 22 credits, who produce a portfolio evaluated as Apprentice level or higher, and who meet Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) diploma standards can obtain a high school diploma.
Are Instructors Available to Assist Students?
Yes! Our courses are written by highly qualified teachers, and each course is taught by a teacher who is available to answer students' e-mailed questions within 24 hours. In addition, each teacher can be contacted by telephone during his or her office hours.
Can Students Earn College Credit?
Yes! Through College NOW!, an eLearning Partnership for High School Students. We currently offer 9, .5 credit/3 college credit-hour courses. Such courses are continuously developed; a current listing is available at www.college-now.com. To qualify for these courses, students must pass a college entrance examination. Although there is an additional cost for taking college credits, the cost is less than the price of college tuition.
Who Is a Successful Distance Learner?
A successful distance learner is; goal-oriented, self-motivated student who has strong computer skills. (We offer a course designed to improve such skills.)
A JCPSeSchool student needs to:
We offer the following options;
Option 1: students can enroll individually for a .5 credit course at any time during the school year.
Option 2: Schools can purchase eight student slots, which allows them to enroll eight students at any given time. As soon as one student completes his or her coursework, another student can fill his or her slot. If students complete their coursework in three months, it is possible to have 32 courses complete within one year.
Option 3: With the purchase of slots, schools have the option of paying an additional annual fee for unlimited tutorials.

Is a Guidance Counselor Available to Students?
Yes! Based on each student’s transcript, our counselor recommends courses and responds to questions concerning this program. Students can contact our counselor in person, by e-mail, or by telephone.

What is an eLiaison?
An eLiaison is a person assigned to proctor an eSchool course final examination. Such a liaison must be assigned by the high school administrator and needs to meet eSchool guidelines.
Can Parents Check Their Student’s Progress?
Parents can access their student’s, Student Progress Report to obtain such information as the time the student logged on, the grades he or she has earned on lessons and tests, what learning activities are taking place, and how the Student Progress Report serves as a direct communication tool between the student and his or her instructor. Student Progress Reports are accessible 24/7.
How can I clear my cache (internet history)?
There are times when you are working on your course that there may be an internet interruption. When this occurs, your computer may memorize that page with the bad connection. You may need to clear your internet history. Here are the steps for clearing your internet history in Internet Explorer:
1. Click on Tools in the menu bar.
2. Select Internet Options.
3. Look for Browsing History or Temporary Internet Files. There will be a clock under the words.
4. Click delete.
5. Near the bottom of the page click “delete all . . .”
6. Select “yes” when asked if you are sure . . .
7. Click OK.
What if I can't connect to JCPSeSchool?
We have two servers at JCPSeSchool. There are times when the main server is not functioning properly and you cannot connect to eSchool. Here is a way for you to try to connect to the secondary server.
If you are working in the JCPS school district, type this number in the URL box at the top of your browser - 10.232.0.186.
If you are not working in the JCPS school district, type this number in the URL box at the top of your browser - 170.185.232.21.
Will my course be accepted by the NCAA Clearinghouse?
JCPSeSchool is proud to announce that completed courses officially meet eligibility requirements held by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). To find out more information about NCAA eligibility please go to the website www.eligibilitycenter.org.
