After earning my Bachelors degree in English and French from Transylvania University, I taught high school english for four years. Following that, I worked in my own small business and then returned to teaching in 1989, which is when I earned my Masters degree and Rank I in Humanities and Education from the University of Louisville. I started teaching when Nixon was president, and have taught English to all levels from grades 8–12, although my favorite age group is freshmen. While at Manual High School in Louisville, KY, I served as literacy lead and currently teach at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Louisville. I joined the JCPSeSchool staff because teaching with technology is an exciting new field in education. Online learning is a great fit for students who no longer fit the traditional school day. In my courses I work individually with student writers, coaching them toward writing proficiently through the use of emailed conversations and annotated drafts.
