Every 1 Reads MORE!
The Jefferson County Public Education Foundation is partnering with Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) and Louisville Metro Government for a community-side follow-up initiative to the Every 1 Reads program. Every 1 Reads More is championed by volunteer Foundation Chairman, Jim Allen. He is currently working with the local business leaders to fund this "healthy minds" program which encompasses literacy and health which ultimately will strengthen the reading curriculum and add nurses in the schools. Children who are healthy will be in the classroom to receive the Every 1 Reads More curriculum. Placing nurses in the schools has proven to hold a vital role in student achievement.
Currently, approximately 9,000 students enrolled in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) cannot read at grade level. By implementing the Every 1 Reads More initiative, we are hopeful to make a huge impact in the lives of these children.
We are seeking additional companies, foundations and individuals to support this program both as volunteer tutors and as monetary contributors through gifts and grants. See the Recent Donors page that includes a list of Every 1 Reads/Every 1 Reads More supporters.
