Nutrition Services - Information on the department that serves the JCPS community more than 87,000 nutritious lunches, breakfasts, and snacks each school day.

Support Services/Programs

Activities/Athletics - information about ensuring that local schools have student organizations/clubs and Board approved academic contests, activities and athletics available to all students who wish to participate. Contains information for schools and parents regarding eligibility, rules/regulations and program offerings.

Adult and Continuing Education - Adult and Continuing Education serves more than 30,000 adults annually through the following services: GED and skill-building classes, leisure-learning and career-enhancing Lifelong Learning courses, English as a Second Language (ESL), workforce training, family education, and college preparation courses.

Childcare Enrichment Program (CEP) - A partnership between JCPS and the YMCA of Greater Louisville that provides before-and after-school childcare for children ages 5 to 14.

Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) - provides new and used clothing to needy children who attend Jefferson County Public Schools.

Community Schools - a program which provides a variety recreational and educational after school programming for community members of all ages. Community School programs are located in the following schools - Cane Run Elementary, Farnsley, Frost, Meyzeek, and Western Middle and Iroquois High School. Hours of operation begin at the end of school until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.

College 101 - One day seminar to help middle school parents begin planning for their child's postsecondary success. JCPS, UofL, and GEAR UP Kentucky are offering this seminar Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Student Activity Center at UofL from 8:30 am to 1pm. The event is free and includes breakfast, lunch, and parking. Please contact the GEAR UP office for further information at 852-3208.

English as a Second Language (ESL) - A program that helps educate students who have limited English-language skills.

Exceptional Child Education (ECE) - A range of academic services for students with disabilities.

Extended School Services (ESS) - A program that works to diminish students' academic problems before they become recurring, long-term problems.

Family Education - The Family Education program offers free adult education classes (GED/skill-building and English as a Second Language) to parents of children ages 6 weeks to 11 years. In addition, the program offers high-quality infant/toddler programs, fun parent-child activities, and homework help - all free of charge.

Family Resource & Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) - Promoting the flow of resources and support to families in ways that strengthen their functioning and enhance the growth and development of individual members and the family unit.

GED - Do you know someone who needs to earn a GED? Adult and Continuing Education offers free GED and basic skills classes at more than 60 convenient locations throughout Jefferson County; both day and evening classes are available.

Health Promotion Schools of Excellence (HPSE) - A school-based program designed to promote Coordinated School Health.

Homeless Education - A program that coordinates services for Homeless students who have temporary living arrangements.

Internet safety (iSafe) - A federal program that educates parents and students about internet safety

Louisville Education and Employment Partnership (LEEP) - a collaborative effort among the Jefferson County Public Schools, Louisville Metro Government, Metro United Way, and KentuckianaWorks to assist students to remain in high school, to graduate, and to make a successful transition to employment and/or post-secondary education or military service.

Migrant Education - A program that coordinates services for migrant students who move into our district.

Neighborhood Place - a collaboration of partner agencies that create a network of health, education, employment and human services designed to help families gain and sustain self-sufficiency. More than 500 staff members offer their array of services in the neighborhoods and communities where families who need us live.

SBDM

School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) - SBDM Councils meet on a regular basis, mostly monthly, to discuss, make decisions, and create policies regarding student achievement at their school. The Councils focus are on areas of curriculum, instruction, budget, and personnel, discipline, comprehensive school planning, professional development, textbooks, technology, extracurricular programs, student assignment to classes, school space, and scheduling.
