FoodPlay
School & Community Nutrition Services sponsored "FoodPlay" performances in nine (9) elementary schools the week of March 23-27, 2009. The schools participating were Cochrane, Indian Trail, Hazelwood, Layne, Roosevelt-Perry, McFerran, Maupin, Foster, and Farmer. "FoodPlay" was created by nutritionist Barbara Storpher, working through the New York City Board of Education and U.S. Department of Agriculture and is designed to motivate children to develop healthy eating habits. The play features Johnny Junkfood who is trying to make the Junior National Juggling Team, and Coach Tom who strives to show Johnny that he will never make the team if he doesn't give his healthy food as fuel. The play includes a lot of audience participation is was enjoyed by students and teachers alike.
