You’ve Arrived!
Welcome to JCPS Guidance Services
from Dr. Carol
Hi! Many of you know lots about Counseling and Guidance Services offered by Counselors, but many of you do not. One of the most important things I want to share with you is that seeing a School Counselor to talk, or going to the School Counselor for some help with questions and concerns is okay…whether you are 8 or 80. School Counselors are credentialed professionals trained to give people of all ages hope and help!
Just like you go to a dentist when you have a toothache …
Just like you go to a medical doctor when you have a sore throat, the flu or a broken
bone …
For Students:
It is also very okay to see and communicate with your School Counselor about:
- Your academics – How are you doing in school and what could be better with additional help? Do you know how to study? Do you need some help with organizing your work and time?
- Your individual plan for your life – What do you want to do for a career? What are your plans for college? What do you need to do to get ready for your future?
- Your emotional health and well-being – Am I happy? Do I have friends and a support system? Am I a good communicator? Do I know how to cope with life’s “ups and downs?” Am I staying safe and taking good care of myself?
- Anything else you need to talk about…
For Parents:
We are here to help you as a resource for your family and the awesome job of parenting. Please call, email, or stop in and visit your School’s Counselor when you have concerns and/or questions.
For Community Partners:
We join you in working together to support our students, parents, and school staff. Please let us know if we can help you help them.
Remember, Counseling is about helping you to be “the very best you” that you can possibly be! Please visit our website; but, more importantly, visit YOUR School Counselor.
School Counselors can really give you some HOPE and HELP.
