Minority/Women Business Enterprises (MWBE)
Jefferson County Board of Education Policy (FEF)
The Jefferson County Board of Education provides equal opportunities to all of its bidders with respect to the bidding and award of construction contracts. The board is committed to increasing the accessibility of contracting opportunities to business enterprises that are owned by minorities and women (Minorities include Black Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, American Eskimos, and American Aleuts). The board will make every effort possible to ensure that minority owned and women owned businesses are provided a fair and equitable opportunity to participate in the procurement of school district construction contracts.
Statement of Commitment
The Jefferson County Public School System (JCPS) actively and aggressively encourages and promotes the participation of Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE) as its vendors and construction contractors. It is the Jefferson County Public Schools' goal to have 15-20% participation of MWBEs in their program. In all Jefferson County Public Schools bidding procedures, all potential contractors/vendors are to engage in efforts to include minority/women businesses as subcontractors. Failure to show concrete efforts to achieve MWBE participation may result in disqualification from the bidding process. Contractors/vendors will be required to explain their efforts and level of success in the bid documents. JCPS's Division of Facilities/Transportation, Coordinator of Facilities and Procurement is available to assist and provide a listing upon request, of certified minority and women business enterprises upon request.
