What is the application time frame for Certified Administrators?

From December to February, ads appear ins the JCPS Job List. Typically, by early-to-mid February candidates apply by submitting a latter of interest for each level applied for (elementary, middle, high), resume, list of six references, and a copy of the Kentucky principal certification. Additionally, candidates complete a JCPS Online Application. Each year, a required briefing is held to explain the application process for all new candidates. The briefing is offered several times in December through January and dates are posted on the JCPS Job List. Candidates may apply outside of the traditional application period. What are the requirements for hiring?

Additionally, to be hired in JCPS, candidates need to provide: (a) a copy of a Kentucky certificate in K-12 principal, of for principal at the grade level applied for, and (b) official transcripts from all universities where credits/degrees are held.  Candidates will also complete a TB test, criminal records check, and the JCPS screening process prior to hiring.

What if a candidate is not Kentucky Certified?

Out of State applicants who hold a valid principal certificate should contact the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board at 1-888-598-7667. Applicants will need to have transcripts sent to EPSB and will need to complete a 'TC-1 Form' to apply for certification. Additional information is available from the EPSB.

How does a candidate's prior experience count in salary calculations?

Candidates need to get an 'Experience Verification Form' from the HR department to be filled out by the prior district.  Salary calculation would be based on up to 20 years experience as and teacher and up to 10 years as an administrator.

What is involved in the administrator applicant screening process?
