KidTrax ™

Overview

An exciting opportunity exists in Louisville, Kentucky to collect and share data about young people that will help educators and youth service-providers understand the relationship between out-of-school activities and academic achievement. The partners in the project include Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), Metro Government, Metro United Way, Boy’s and Girls Clubs, Salvation Army Boy’s and Girls’ Clubs and many other organizations that provide programming for youth in the Metro Area. A partnership of this magnitude is the only one of its kind in the country. Louisville is the first community to come together in such a cohesive way to provide a multitude of opportunities for youth to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. Through this partnership, youth-serving agencies, the school district and Metro government hope to establish for the first time a data supported link between quality after school activities and the influence it can have on success in school.

The data collection system is powered with a software program known as KidTrax ™. This program allows community agencies to keep accurate attendance of the students that attend their program. With this information, and in collaboration with the school district, programs that serve children and youth in our communities can make a powerful connection to helping them succeed in the classroom. As a Community Partner using the Kidtrax software, the agency or organization can pinpoint students needs and collaborate on how to support that student. Through the data collection, the partners will be able to segregate the youth that they work with and focus on their needs academically, and provide additional support in the after school hours. Through the support and guidance this information will provide, the partners in this initiative will be able to better provide for the youth of our area.
